Mine have all been flightly until they get to the egg laying age. Then they have all seemed to mellow out , get friendly, and don't mind being handled, even my roos.

After many months of following this thread, and several attempts at hatching shipped eggs, I finally have 2 Polish chicks. I believe they are bantams. I am hoping that they are a hen and a roo. I am thinking that the frizzled one is a cockerel, and keeping my fingers crossed that the smooth one is a pullet.

My secret is to start putting tiny pieces of bread in a feeder in the brooder (pencil eraser sized), just enough for 1-2 pieces per bird. I do this at about two weeks old. After a couple of days, start making them get it out of your hand. In about a week, they will all come up to get pieces from your fingers. They learn from each other very quickly. I have 6 month old polish outside that fly up on my lap for thier treats. The older/wilder polish are starting to fly up - b/c they are NOT going to be left out.
