Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok everyone I need some genetics help please! :D  I have not been able to find the answer and am hoping that someone  here may have some better answers/explanations for me.

The question I have is regarding the "candy corn" (crele/tolbunt polish?)  and the tolbunt polish.  I know the tolbunts breed true and from my understanding the "candy corn" polish breed too also.  Is this accurate?

Additionally, I have heard that the "candy corn" and the tolbunt are the same base colors but that the "candy corn" have the crele gene, whereas the tolbunts do not.  Would this mean that housing tolbunts and "candy corns" together would produce either candy corns or tolbunts and not some odd mix?

I have a lovely flock of tolbunts that I am very excited about but I also have a pair (smooth roo and a frizzle hen) of beautiful "candy corns."  I want to know if I can keep them all and have pure tolbunt or 'candy corn' babies from the flock.

Thanks!

Have you tried the chicken calculator? I am not yet well versed enough in chicken color genetics to give you any advice, but that might be a place to start.
I heard you definitely don't wanna cross but both are special and they are color patterns and if you mix you won't ever get them to breed true. A couple breeders I've spoken with freaked out when I asked about breeding something other with something other than its own kind . However I love my mutts !!! I have a frizzled tolbunt male if u need one lol

You're right Mutts can be good, that's how many new color varieties are made... That's how the Unicorn was made

I am committing a big sin to those purists by breeding show quality WCB Polish to Porcelain D'uccles... but I want to make a Lavender Spangled Polish Bantams and there is no other way to get the porcelain color.

@MissD'uccle
I believe Candy Corn is due to the the presence of a barred gene so this should give you an idea of what might happen if not answer your question totally. Barred Gene Use in Chickens | DIY Seattle . Hope this helps.

I have a breed question. I live in California, but I am also German and was looks no through a recent German book on chicken breeds. Very cool to see what breeds they have in Germany that just aren't present here!

What was most interesting though was that Polish by that name or any direct translation was not present. There were Many crested chickens: Haubenhuhn(translate: crested chicken-- looked like a mottled polish), Holländisches Haubenhuhn(translate: holland crested chicken-- looks exactly like a wcblack Polish), Haubenstrupphuhn(translate: frizzled crested chicken) and a few I can't remember off the top.

These were not presented as varieties of the same breed, but rather as independent breeds. Their breed standards also all seem to lean towards much longer legs across the board. I would love some input from some of you who have been doing this longer!

We've come to absolutely love the white crested black polish breed. They are soooooooo friendly and like to play statue!(Not because they just sit on me)

Here is my 3mth old white crested black polish rooster, "Cochise"!

Well I found a good deal on Polish today at local auction. Turned out because they were all roosters, most were young and looked like pullets from where I was sitting.

But anyway there was one nice looking rooster.

A partridge colored one. Crest needs work.
