Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all! It's my first post on this thread. I apologize in advance is this is the wrong place to put this. I have a two month old Tolbunt Cockerel named Misfit that I need to find a home for. The problem is he shouldn't be used for breeding. He has problems breathing out of his nostrils, so keeps his beak open most of the time and this has resulted in a crossed beak. :(

I live in Blacksburg, VA and would be willing to drive an hour or so. If anyone nearby wants him for a pet, please let me know.

What a sweetie. Hope he gets a good home and not someone's dinner as so many little roos wind up - so sad but alarmingly true! Have you checked to see if BYC has a VA thread to advertise your little guy closer to your location?

I haven't. That is a good idea! Thanks! Yeah, I don't want him to be dinner. If I can't find a home for him I'm going to try and keep him.

hi guys!
i just got 8 polish silver and gold laced. I've never had them before or even really been around. so I'm clueless really. they kind of look a bit "sad" to me. some are missing feathers on their tails. why is that? the guy said that they are only a few months old but so far i haven't found a way to tell how old they really are. also how do i tell a rooster from a hen?

I'm not sure why they look sad. Maybe they hold their head a certain way to see, and that makes them look sad? I find mine very funny. I had some chickens that didn'tggrow their full tails until they were 5 months old. I don't know how to tell how they old they are. As for telling a male from female, if you look at their combs and wattles the males will probably have more red coloring. Here's pics of mine. They are between two and three months. The pics aren't great, but I think you can still see the difference.

I can try and get better pics if you like :)

Bald butts do make sad looking chickens! That sounds like some other chicken was pulling out their tail feathers. Did they come from a pen with older chickens? My polish are more slender than my other chickens. I think that may be typical body type for polish. I'm not certain, though. I only have 4, and they are all related.
