I'm getting a few bantam cochin chicken in about a month, will they and polish be ok raised and living together, or will the polish be mean?

Both breeds are known to be more on the gentle docile side but that's not to say there couldn't be a stinker in the group. Raised together the two gentle breeds should get along. The good thing is to have more than one chicken of each breed so the alike ones can hang out together. Let us know how you like the bantam Cochins. When I first wanted pets I couldn't decide on Polish, Cochins, or Silkies. As luck had it, an acquaintance hatched too many Silkies and I got my first 2 Silkies for free and never got the Polish or Cochins to try. I figured the 3 breeds would most likely get along because of their sweet reputations.

What do you think? 5-6mths....wattles/crest are not even pink. Haven't heard crowing at all. Pointy feathers but its a frizzle. Crest looks round/neat.

I have Cochin (both LF & bantam) & about 4 polish. All do fine together. Some raised together some polish added later. I hear some breeds will pick on the Polish's top hats if they aren't used to them.

Hi! I'm new to this thread & new to Polish, kind of. We had one hen when I was a little kid but that's it. I just got some Crele Polish & some Tolbunt Polish chicks from a friend of mine. 12 out of 12 eggs hatched!! I can't tell who is who rt now. They look like 3 different colors right now. Can I (or should i) breed these two colors together to get another color or should I keep them separate? I'm trying to learn as much as I can, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! :)

Welcome :) I have my first polish and hatched eggs from tolbunt and crele. They came from a breeder in Florida also. I originally thought she had them separate and I would have tolbunt AND crele chicks but it turned out she must have had them together because I didn't get any tolbunt and they look a bit mixed. Tolbunt X crele gives you the US version of "candy corn". A few posts back are pics of my chicks and how they are turning out as a mix. I have gold laced showing up, candy corn?, and, well, I don't really know yet. Still learning. All I really know is I didn't get the tolbunts, and that's what I really wanted. So I'm looking for more now, oh well at least these guys are really cute.
