Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not offended just feel like this should be posted in the emergency section. This is not a polish issue it's a bird issue. That's why their are so many different threads. If I need help with the problem you are offering a solution to I wouldn't look for it here. I also don't expect to see it here. I don't think you had bad intentions I'm just saying I think this is the wrong thread. That this should be posted in the medical/help section.. :)

If your polish chicken has had its head plucked or scalped by its peers will the feathers grow back? I have hesitated to get them because I had a rooster and my flock kept cornering him and doing this to him. I finally sold him because I felt so bad for him. I got a new one and have silkies too a much smaller flock these days... now but I'm worried because of my past experience . Does anyone know?

I don't know for sure if they will grow back. I assume so. I've heard that polish don't do well in a mixed flock because other chickens are drawn to their crest. My polish are kept separate from my other chickens. I do have some silkies I'm getting ready to hatch. I plan on keeping them with the polish. I've heard they do well together.. :)

I was wondering about that. Guess mine will never free range with the other girls.

Yeah I've heard they don't do well free ranging either because their vision gets obscured from their crest lol. Easy prey. They are kind of a pain but so worth it. Mine chatter all the time. They have so much personality. They also like to be held and are super friendly. Well except for my rooster. He isn't aggressive but he always seem offended when I try to pick him up lol

Mine sneak up and pounce on each other..and one escaped by flying out of the pen today where the netting had an open place. 8 weeks and flying around! Probably best they are secured anyway!

Wish I could give you an answer in stone. From real people i've had the pleasure of visiting on farms i am often seeing silkies&polish seem to play nice. Theres always a rare exception so watch them closely the first two days at least. If you share your experience it might help others though so keep us posted! Usually the first 5mins I can tell if its going to be a green light,or no can do&seperate immediately. I set cages side by side for a day first, if they are trying to rip thru the cages i would strongly advise they not share a coop or a flock together. Hope that helps some.
