Last year I got some Polish Crested chicks from Cackle Hatchery. They have been laying off and on since the Fall and their eggs are finally big enough to hatch. So I set six of their eggs with a few easter egger eggs.
At the same time, I ordered some silver laced Polish chicks from Ideal Poultry and scheduled them to be shipped so that my own chicks in the incubator would go into the brooder at the same time the hatchery chicks arrived. Turns out, the hatchery chicks are about 24 hours older than my own buff laced chicks so that worked out perfectly.

So, what's up with the silvers? They are so small. Supposed to be standard size and not bantam. Still cute though! Too bad one died the first night they were here.

It COULD Be that there were not any standards available.

Was there a substittution option that you could/did choose, just in case what you ordered was not available?

THAT or your chicks mommy and daddy were perhaps a bigger standard than your ordered chicks?

IDK but they are adoreable <3

Is your home hatched a buff laced? He/she is a doll!#

)I've got a thing for the Buff lacedsss..)

@Banaynaychicken Your guys are adorable. Sorry you lost Dori... she was beautiful.
Yes, the yellow chick is a buff laced

Here is his/her daddy. His crest is a little wonky from the mullet hair cut I gave him last Fall lol
.

and one of the chick's siblings right after getting some water. This one's muffs were so huge that I had to trim them to keep her eyes from getting matted shut from chick-fuzz getting in them.

OOOHHHHHHH what a HANDSOME Man!!

Im Hoping my bearded will look like that <3

Are your boys kind of aggressive breeders? Mine scare the living daylights out of me and my hens when they try to breed. They are younger though, they need time to mature up and maybe practice XD
