I just bought my first two polish chicks today. I have a few silkies but this pair was so cute I couldn't pass them by. As a consequence of my impulse purchase, I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the breed. Here's a picture of my little darlings.

I'm new to raising polish chicks and I got a few buff laced polish this spring...

Can anyone give me some advice for sexing my chicks? They are now 5 weeks old and am mostly feathered out ... I have an idea of who is what but would love to hear any tricks and tips from anyone who regularly raises this awesome breed

Hi everyone! I just found this thread! I have one WC blue polish, 5 polish frizzles in the incubator, and I just won an auction for 12 Tolbunt Polish. I am so excited to see the Tolbunts. Well excited for all my Polish actually. I hatched 3 eggs from my WC Blue on Easter. Since I had no Polish rooster, the eggs were fertilized by my RIR. I didnt think they would have a crest, buuuuuut, look what is popping out of their heads.


2 different chicks, this is what a WC Blue Polish mixed with RIR looks like. Poor confused babies.....lol

Polish color question. If you have a trio of Polish: White Cockerel, White Crested Black Pullet, White Crested Blue Pullet. I was told elsewhere that this breeding combination would give you the possibility of all three colors (albeit the whites would have a very high chance of black feathers and the blues might lose their lacing). Can someone that knows more about color genetics confirm this for me?

Question - When can you tell if a chick is a frizzle or not? The hen and roo of these bitties are cuckoo but the roo is frizzle and the hen is smooth.

Also, how and at what age can polish chicks be sexed?
