Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know and I have been doing a lot of reading, but seeing as how I already have a mixed flock I don't see how one/one more rooster could do anything. Also is there something about mixed breeds I should know? or do you just not like them? Also would it be ok to have two roosters with 6 hens? I know most people don't like less then 8 hens if you want two roosters but I'm just checking. Worst thing is I either don't take a rooster or give a rooster to someone else.

There may come a time unbeknownst to you that you may have to re-home some or all of your flock for some reason and re-homing purebreds is going to be much easier than re-homing mixed breeds. Mixed breeds often just become someone's dinner -- unless that doesn't matter to you.

Yeah. I guess I'll ask my parents what they think and give it a try and if he ends up needing to be eaten then ok. It's a part of life and as long as I don't kill or eat him I don't mind.

That's a good practical outlook to have. He'll probably make a skimpy meal but then my folks raised Babcock Leghorns and they weren't real meaty -- but in olden days people ate less meat than today's populace. I can't abide the heavy sickly problems the fast-growing CornishX birds have to endure -- glutting the supermarket and restaurant industry with tasteless so-called poultry meat nowadays.

Ha! Ain't that the truth. People and the different food related industries are ridiculous.

Yeah. My parents want them for the eggs but honestly I just want them because I've wanted them since I was probably 5-6.

Same here. The only difference with me was I was told I don't deserve chickens. :( guess I'd better train myself to live in the now. :/ I've got my chickens finally and it's been delightful. :)

Ah. Yeah my parents kept telling me I could get some and then they'd "change their minds". But I have them now and love them.

I had to retire to finally get my chickens because I didn't want to have them unattended while I was at work.
