question - When my EE/OE's were two weeks old, the boys had much smaller tails than the girls. I could tell which would be boys or girls by their tail for all except one. Can you guess the gender of a polish that way? One of my nearly 2 week old buff polish has a crest poof that is bigger than the other two, but it's tail is the same as the ones with a smaller poof. Any thoughts or suggestions on this? or will it be one big guessing game until their crest feathers grow in. LOL
All of your polish crested birds are SO CUTE. I can't wait until mine get their feathers!
How old are they?
How old are they?
I think 7 weeks. Some let us pick out 3 when they were hatched. I had idea how to tell the gender.
I was hoping for all pullets. The solid black on is the most agressive one out of the two. Not sure what you call it but those 2 almost look like they are fighting. It was funny this morning those two trying to crow. The gray one looks like a boy to me. The others are probably pullets. Polish can be very difficult to sex and only really experienced breeders can tell my the crest.with wattles that size at 6 weeks I'm pretty sure you have a rooster..

That will work for me. If I have 2 roosters i dont know what to do. 1 more question I have 3 babys i got and trying to add to the flock but my easter egger pullet is pecking at the pretty hard. The babies are about 3 weeks. Should i wait until they about 7 or 8 weeks. The babies are 2 silver lace Wyandotte and 1 easter egger. My flick outside is 3 polish, easter egger, buff orpington, rhode island redHens can also crow. Alot of the time hens will chest bump a bit when developing the pecking order. Mine still do lol. You could have 2 boys but I'm thinking still that the gray is the boy and the other 2 are pullets.![]()
