The other day it rained from the wrong direction and rain got into the coop (we're fixing that ASAP!) and my crested's headdresses got soaked. Their heads were so heavy from the weight of the water in the feathers that they had difficulty lifting their heads. I felt SO bad. That plus constantly running into things and bumping their poor little heads I decided to trim their crests. The girls got theirs trimmed down into mini afros that tapered to short feathers around their faces, one boy got a semi-mohawk style and the other boy got a mullet.

Haha we went with the mullet as well lol

I cant imagine Bowser sitting still long enough to trim her feathers..

It would be really neat if someone came up with directions and photos for different Polish crest trims, Mohawk, maybe skater cut, baldy sour,etc.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this breed and I'm curious if you could help me to sex mine. I have 2 gold laced and one buff. I'm suspicious that I have 2 cockerels and one pullet but I'd like your opinions on them.

The buff laced has some darker gold "rooster feathers" in the crest. He is a boy. All three of them are just too adorable.

If I were you I'd find a vet. Some things are easy to treat at home but sometimes you just need someone medically trained to take a look. This could be an easy fix or a reason to put him down. If you can't find a small livestock vet I would try to find an avian vet. Good luck.
