I got mine from Meyer Hatchery and their crests along with their other features have grown in well.

Yep, they do have vision restriction so sometimes you have to trim crest feathering around the eyes and if the Polish is beared, around the muffs too. Other times, they'll get along well and will have little trouble with blocked vision so no haircut is needed. Depends on crest size usually.

I have a lot of Polish, many different colors. I love them. I find them to be funny and curious birds, but often some bigger birds or even smaller birds will pick on them. Mine have always been good layers. I get about 3-5 a day from my Bufflaced. When the weather stays nice my birds all lay pretty well with at least one a day per pen. I have had a Polish hen try and go broody, but it didn't last very long. She got bored after a few days... LOL. Some of them are my breeders and kept in the chicken barn while others free range the yard.

I have my polish chickens in with my peafowl. I am waiting for the turkey pen to free up and then I'll separate them. They all get "buzz" cuts at this time. Really because I 'm nervous the peafowl will beat up on them if I don't keep them trimmed. They seem much friendlier than my other breeds

However; I will be reluctant to let them free range, even with a good haircut. They just don't see as well as most.

I love the looks of the Polish but both of the WCBP roosters I have had turned really mean. We put the first one in the stew pot and the second one (the one sitting on hubby's shoulder in my avatar, these are my men in black) just died. Other chickens totally picked their crown bare!!! They looked terrible. I will not own another one.

i have 2 wcb hens, 2 golden hens, and one buff laced hen. my neighbor has a golden polish rooster so i hope to mate them next year

Here are a few mixed clear ones. My Sultan sneaked her way into some photos. She looks like a yellow fuzzy Polish but she has feathered feet, and Polish do not. They're all 4 days old here.

Same bunch a bit older. I forgot the age here, but somewhere from 6-7 weeks I think?

My adult White Crested Black last winter. She was approx. a year and a half.

Temperment: My Polish have always been friendly but others say they are flighty. I think it's how they're brought up and how they are treated in a flock. Other chickens will sometimes play too rough or pick crest feathers out. But I've never had that in my flock. I think they're very personable birds.

Size: Even large fowl Polish are smaller than most other kinds of chickens. When my WCB was growing up, we thought she was a bantam, but we soon learned that they are just small birds.

Egg color: White, but others have said white tinted in certain cases. Eggs are small to medium and Polish are said to be poor layers but we received approx. 3-4 a week.

Broodiness: Polish rarely go broody. IMO, finding a broody Polish is like winning the lottery: You can always say there's a chance but it takes some real luck for this to occur.

I was told you can give them a "haircut" and trim the feathers around the eyes. We tried this with Phylis, our 5 year old girl and it made her less skiddish.
The Polish has been my favorite breed to raise so far!
