I listened to the Sherriff today on the radio during an interview. He is doing what he was elected to do... protect the people.

Why do we have police, train them to deal with criminals, give them guns, and spend millions of taxpayer dollars then turn around and put some idiot like Joe Biden in charge of something he knows absolutely nothing about... stopping crime in schools??

Well, using executive orders to get their way is unconstitutional. It is illegal. This man is not going to allow that crap to happen in his county. We will have to wait till tomorrow to hear the proposals. I am sure there are several that will just be nonsensical, and if congress doesn't pass/adopt them, executive orders will be misused and if no one is willing to stand up and stop dictatorial actions, then we will be screwing ourselves. This countries constitution is to protect us from these action, our leaders are forgetting that.

Maybe you just forgot that it was this same type of sheriff that stood in the school doorways in the South and swore it was their constitutional duty to keep little black children out. Or maybe you really did not forget and this may be your second most proudest moment

It is just remarkable to me how some of your arguments are exactly the same as Bull Conners and others. These same people thought it was their God given right to enforce the laws how their small minds saw it then and, unfortunately, it is the same thing now. No Virginia, your local sheriff does not have the authority to decide what the National laws will be. If they did we would still think that Seperate But Equal should be the law of the land. They also do not get to pick and choose which laws they would like to enforce.

Ed...your brave Sheriff was elected, but try to remember that he was elected with probably about 10,000 votes, while Obama and Biden were elected with over 60,000,000 votes. Your boy only gets to independently decide what color socks to wear. He does not get to decide what the law is or which ones to enforce. His letter was just dumb.

So tell me what is the difference between this sheriff and say Obama or any governor(particularly my state) doing the same thing. When this sheriff was elected and sworn in to uphold the laws and defend the Constitution? Here in wonderful Mass the governor picks and chooses which laws he feels need enforcing and which don't.

I am really sorry, but if you do not know the difference between a local sheriff and the President of the United States, then no amount of explaining will make it any clearer.
