I was going to try to get my friend a speakeasy coop, but her parents said no.

I don't know

It is easier to do and ask forgiveness, than it is to ask permission.

and there is a rooster crowing in my neighborhood somewhere:cool:

When I get my chickens we'll be legal. We have one acre in zoning that allows 20 chickens per acre, and I only want 8 to 12 or so. But since the limit is 20, I have a little room if the addiction gets to be too much, and we're building the coop large enough for up to 25 anyway. So I'll have room to expand both legally and in their housing.

Haha great poll, we are legal. Our neighbors whom have been living on this farm for over 50 years owns chickens as well but many more than us. My DW grew up in Chester County, Penn. so she grew up in the country and loved it but I never had a clue how cool it was until we moved out here in July. We've had 8 pullets from the get go and truly suprised that we still only have 8.

I'm actually not sure, but I think it's legal. I've found so many contradictory ordinances I just don't know what's what. One says I can have 6 chickens. One says I can have all the chickens I want if I get a flat fee permit. One says I can't have ANY chickens.

All I know is, I live in unincorporated and there are people out here with chickens and my illegal activity isn't nearly as bad as some of the permit-less 2nd stories that have been built around here.

I started with 5 last spring, after 6 weeks I was up to 20. I'm getting 7 more this spring! Just can't resist those balls of fluff. It's ok though, I live in a tract home in Reno and Reno just says; 1) I have to keep them on my property & 2) If I get 10,000 or more I must get a special system to handle waste.
