We have had chickens for 6 years and just this past year we were "anonymously" turned in to the township. They sent us our notice of violation and we have had 4 hearings since last august, our most recent was Jan. 7, 2010. Now, it is turning into a Michigan Right to Farm case. Waiting to see what their attorney advises them to do. Don't think they'll want to go to court over it as I provided them w/ a lot of info from my research, plus they were advised by a new board member who is an attorney that he felt we were protected by the MRTFA as it supercedes local ordinances because we are commercial in nature. SO, I will go with, we are LEGAL! :)

I am legal because my property is bigger than some of my neighbors'. I don't think they know that I am legal and I hope they don't force me to play that card, but I will if I need to. I prefer to share my eggs with them and they all appreciate my chickens.
