I'm for sure legal cuz I called the city hall and asked the woman who answered the phone if I could have chickens. She asked, "Umm how many chickens?" I told her 5 or 6 and she said, "Oh yeah, that's ok." I was like, Dang, how many could I have gotten away with?

I've got three so I'm legal but a neighbor is definitely not...but even with his 16 hens, they don't make much noise or smell, and you'd never know - so who cares?!?!?!? Not me.

I live in the boondocks. Zoned light agriculture. I have horses and a 8 stall barn. I can pretty much do what I want. In Polk Co. any one can do what they want. As long as they put a fence around it.

Totally illegal....but for those of you who also have "illegals" you can keep the birds inside to prevent anyone from turning you in to "the man." We keep our birds in the basement.

Totally Legal. New Orleans, surprisingly, has very, very few laws concerning livestock in your backyard. About the only definite things about chickens is that you can't sell one that's less than a month old - to avoid the baby chicks at Easter. I just went to a feed store in a neighboring parish to get my week old RIRs.
