I THINK im legal- out in the country so I didn't even bother to check. One of my neighbors about 1/2 a mile down has some so I'm assuming it must be legal.

I live in NJ as well. I called our zoning dept and after a few days it was determined that our town didn't have any ordiances regarding chickens other than they couldn't be a public nuisances....so maybe you are legal!
Legal - town ordinance is: max of 12; no roosters, and can't sell eggs for profit. All of which I abide by, cause I don't want to loose what I have, and the neighbors love the free eggs (once in a while).
Well..... uhhhh.... I am probably, most likely. Yea you know
However, my next door neighbors have had chickens since they moved in 10 years ago, I keep mine much more contained and we have big yards. We kind of have the whole corner, we are familiar with our other neighbors and I really think that the city wont mess with us if the neighbors don't.
I have been back and forth on if I should even say anything about them to my other neighbors. I have had them for a year and honestly don't think anyone but the neighbor who has chickens also even knows I have them. My neighbors are obvious and anyone who drives by knows they have them.
