Nope. I'm old-fashioned. I ENJOY putting everybody to bed every night. Why have chickens if not to interact with them? I look forward to our one-on-one time immensely!

I work away from home a lot, so if I had to lock them up each night then an automatic door would be beneficial for me.

I've been lucky so far that my property is at low risk for predators - the only animals that have jumped the fence have been a few cats here and there. One was scaring my chooks a bit, but that stray seems to have gone now. I caught the others then delivered them to the pound.

My chooks put themselves to bed each night, but when I am at home I do go to check on them. I take a torch so I can see, and it's cute hearing their sleepy clucking! I saw goodnight to them and that I love them all.

I have an Ador1 and it is great
I also built one myself from plans I found on BYC. Don't remember where it is tho. The Ador1 is opened and closed by an electric eye, the one I built is on a timer. It's also way noise then the Ador but it did cost significantly less.

I have the ChickenGuard automatic door. It runs off either 4 AA batteries, which I used during the summer, but once I required power for water heater, I plugged it in. You can set it to open to a certain time or a light setting. I use the light setting, so as the days get longer, the door automatically adjusts the opening and closing times. So far it has worked great, the only issue I have is the LCD screen is very hard to read when the temperature gets into the -20s C.
It'd be hard to read that screen from inside my house! Wow.

Even though we have a fantastic RunChicken solar door I still go and double check our chickens every evening when they go in just to make sure all is well, especially now that we have two new broody hatched peeps.
