The internal bleeding will mess up the meat won't it....or because it did not get to bleed out right?

Just wondering.....

No, a deer that is shot with a bow or gun has internal bleeding too. What damages the meat is bruising, before or during death. Ideally you want an animal to bleed out quickly whether internally or externally.. That and get guts out and get the carcase cooling quickly.

I gutted it right away. This morning I skinned it and processed it... Actually I was surprised very little bruised meat. I cut away the bruised/bloody areas on the hind quarters.. Back straps were great! Front quarters were great! 1/2 the back quarters were fine also... Quite a bit of perfectly fine meat for the family!.. I have seen deer damaged worse by misplaced bullets. I am happy I took the deer home instead of letting it rot by the road... I should have taken pics of the chickens begging for scraps as I was processing it...

I see, yeah I thought would be bruised if hit and killed. I guess depends where etc. I heard chicken feed has dried blood in it. Glad you got some meat. I guess take the money you were gonna spend on meat and save to fix truck unless you have insurance or don't care....sorry about that.

Oh by the way no I don't think it is wrong to use chicken for meat. I don't cull though.

I keep my chickens for pets, and I'd never kill my babies. I get attached REEEEALY fast, so it would be wrong for me to do it

Chickens are omnivores so they need some form of meat/ meat protein in their feed most of the time its fishmeal of somesort to supply their body with nutrients

its why most of the time feeds say " contains reconstructed(sp) animal materials "
