Poll: How many chickens do you have?

we have 80, counted yesterday. 10 roosters, 8 of them free range and live in two separate bachelor coops. 9 month old buckeyes in a brooder and 29 marans waiting for it to warm up and move into outdoor brooders, there are 24 eggs in the incubator.

I have 30 laying or supposed to be laying hens 2 roosters and 2 pullets that are a few weeks away from laying age. We are getting are new batch of 20 Cornish X this fall because it is too hot to raise them in the summer here. So 34 right now.

We have 86 past their first molt, 20ish almost up to their first year, and a whole lot of biddies right now. Out of that there are 7 roosters and 9 cockerels that cause trouble as they are want to do.

Do you mean 9 one month old buckeyes or that they are 9 months old?

I keep one roo and about 8-10 hens in one flock. I have 4 teen chickens in the grow out pen, and two sets of brooders with babies still on heat. One has 2-3week olds and the other has my 1 week olds. And I have an incubator full . I’m raising the babies until we can find out what gender they are as I don’t vent sex them. The pullets will be split between me and my friend and we are each keeping a roo. The rest of the cockerels will find homes or go to freezer camp. I plan to keep about 20-30 chickens long term.

I have always thought about doing meat birds, but I've never pulled the trigger because I get a few roos every summer to dress out from my broodies. It's fine, but I'd love to be more self sufficient.

I only have 3 chickens currently but I also have 4 ducks. I'm hoping to expand the entire flock to a total of 10 birds next spring and then just rotate chicks every year and sell some hens. I feel more attached to my ducks and don't plan to replace them. Plus, I don't know if I will do ducklings again. I'm glad I did, but it was much more challenging than raising chicks. I was a nervous wreck for weeks until I knew they were going to be okay and healthy.
