I would buy chicks for 4.00 a piece

no matter what they were. I guess you just have to find the right person. I also realize that these people have been feeding them and taking care of them (their time) so I sure don't mind paying that much for a chick at all.

It's every Wednesday. Registration is I think 8am until 1pm. Auction starts at 1pm. Cages and supplies go first, then eggs and any poults, ducklings, goslings, chicks. They *usually* do quail and smaller birds after the eggs, but sometimes the sellers put them elsewhere and they take longer to get to. Then comes the poultry outside, then the stuff inside (usually pigeons, guinea pigs, rabbits and some other poultry). Just map for 1 Salebarn Lane, Belleville, PA. Some maps use the "1", others don't. My GPS does, Google I think doesn't.

I Go To Middleburg, Nicholson, and There Is One Coming Up In Bloomsburg At The Fairgrounds ( Great One To Go To) Lots Of Rare And Show Quality Birds

IM TOTALLY GOING TO CHECK THIS AUCTION OUT. I LOVE GOING TO AUCTIONS TO TALK TO OTHER CHICKEN FOLKS THERES NOT MANY AROUND ME.

I don't mind paying 4.00 for a chick if its something I am looking for. I paid that for EEs once because I liked them. I know the time and money that goes into raising chickens. I know I spend way more on them than occasional eggs or chick sales ever make. I don't bother much with selling chicks because I know I spend more than I make. Since I have chickens because I love them I don't mind the work and money that goes into them. I usually hatch when I am looking for something for myself and then will sell the extras. If my friends want some I just give them away because I know they take great care of them. I sold 8 weeks old RIR, Sex link and Leghorn pullets for 2.00 each because my daughter just wanted a few of them but she had to buy 25. I am in PA too and that was about as much as people would pay for them.
I actually think that's a fair price but its hard to compete when people can get them for .50 to a 1.00.

I work at a farm and feed store where chicks are sold. I bring in only sex-sal-link brown (also known as ISA Brown) for customers who want less than 25. These chicks are all pullets and are sold for $2.99 we pay $2.08 for them from Rochester Hatchery in Westlock Alberta. They are also unvaccinated. Rochester offers coccidiosis and mareks vaccinations. Customers who order more than 25 can get what ever they want. Rochester was asking $10.00 for their heritage breeds if you choose the breed and you were getting less than 10 (ex. Danish Brown Leghorn or Buff Orpington...) Thats without vaccinations or shipping

I think $4.00 is a fine price, and would pay it for a female chick from culled hatchery stock. If your birds are well bred, then I would charge more. As the little guy I don’t see the point in competing with the hatcheries, you have to turn a profit, or at least cover expenses.
I notice my birds seem to sell in streams, no one wants my chicks right now either, but everyone wanted them last month. So I'm just holding onto them, and will sell them later.

Good luck with selling your chicks!
Have you put up posters in your grocery stores' bulletin boards? I've sold lots that way plus I had an ad on kijiji.
Here I sell my cuckoo marans for $7.50 per chick and my ameraucanas/EEs and black australorps for $6.00. I had been advertizing my red silkies for $7.50 a chick for unsexed pet quality and I can't keep up with the orders. I've pulled that ad and now I'll put one just for the standards
And I use Rochester hatchery as a comparrison for prices and it helps me sell more chicks.

jberger what farm and feed store in what town sells chicks? Westlock? I'm about 1+1/2 hours east of there
