I have to dump mine everyday regardless but it's one of those medium kiddie pools so it's not bad to do. Takes me about 10 buckets to bail it out.

Yup, they need to get their heads wet. Mine get cement mixing tubs in the winter too, about once a week at least. Those tubs are cheap and indestructible. Got mine at Lowe’s for under $20.No, ducks don’t need a pool in the winter, or ever. Of course it’s a little odd to never let your duck swim.
As long as they can still dunk their heads, they are fine. In the winter, I have always used the plastic coffee cans. If they keep dumping it (mine rarely do) try adding something heavy, like a rock.
