Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

Missa Chickabee,
I use deep litter, 5 inches, with a sprinkle of sweet PDZ on top-as needed- and I pull back the litter every weekend to turn it, and every other week we add sevin then the next week DE dust on the concrete floor. Sorry, I was not clear before. I find it easier to sprinkle the sweet PDZ granulars than the DE dust--way easier to control where the grandular spreads for me. Then there is the lifesaving poop deck full of PDZ.

Fabulous. Lots of work, though. Someone must love carpentry. This one will pay off!
Thanks! What's funny is we just finished our house and I swore I would take a long break from doing construction since we did most of it ourselves. Fast forward two months and here we go again!

Hi DL, your welcome and that's great. I have one more feed store in our area to check with to see if they will do similar for me because I still want the powder kind for the floor to mix with the shavings and DE.

If my coop was small I would opt for granular PDZ both under the roost and on the floor, too, mixed with some DE but that would cost me a small fortune I'm thinking. I'd need enough to cover 144 sq ft for the floor plus and I'd like it at least 2" or 3" deep. Someday when my head is clearer I will do the math...just for giggles. (on second thought: My coop is on concrete slab so I will probably need those pine shavings in the winter. A couple of inches of PDZ would land their little chicken tushies on the cold cement when they dust bath in the stuff.

LOL Missa Chickabee! My chicks are 6 weeks old tomorrow and their coop should be finished and moved from the garage to the backyard tonight. Please Lord, let it be so. Every time we think we are finished, we are NOT. Sigh... I'm ready for them to be outside out of my guest bathroom tub turned brooder. Dusty, poopy little buggers! There is a tarp in the bottom of the tub but they even figured out how to jump through the lattice I put in front of the tub to supposedly contain them.

I'm really excited about using the PDZ/zeolite and DE food grade. We built special poop boards for the girls to be able to sift and remove, if needed, from the coop. We put linoleum down on all the inside floor surfaces and not a single inch of exposed wood is anywhere to be found. We painted all of it with outdoor latex. I'll be posting photos in the next few days once everything is completed. So excited!

I think covering 144 sq ft is a lot. Here's hoping your pocketbook can handle it!

You made me smile. (hard day to smile for me) (I think my 17 year old precious kitty has gone to find a place to pass. She has never not come back when I've called her. Til today. And she was being sick and poopy all over the house this morning...so we found out after she went outside. She wanted to be outside. She had been an indoor/outdoor cat all her life. We have 40 acres. I may never find her)

Bootstraps...up you go!!
Can't wait to see your finished coop pics. We painted with white rubber roofing goop, but since the floor's concrete, we left it, except in my area where I store things and wash up.

TODAY!!!! Yes. Today, DH is picking up materials to make the poop board and roost this afternoon. We keep renovationg in there!......as I discover more and more things on BYC that I like. Poor guy.
