Are you positive she was hit by a car? Just wondering because thats not for sure what happened to her. How do you think predators such as coyotes, wolves, foxes, etc.. eat?

Plus the fact that after talking to my dad he thikns she may have broken her legs on the rocky cliffs around here, which wouuld make it nature...and predators pick the weak and injured...THATS life. that's nature.

Okay, whatever works for ya...! (I think that you were the one who suggested she got hit by a car, to begin with...)

Do we know for sure mankind had anything to do with this? I dont. Maybe you know something that I dont. Nature will run its course. What might be a bad ending for the deer, will probaly be a good meal for some other animals. Its called the circle of life.

You need to check your local laws. You can hunt on your own property without a license and out of season in most states that I know of. Putting her out of her misery would not be illegal. If indeed it is illegal in your state why not call the game warden and have them come do it? Hashing it out on BYC is not helping man nor beast.

it IS illegal. Its dark. and they are closed for the night. Already stated all of this.....thanks though. Im not hashing it out on here, I am defending myself from being accused of being cruel.

I can only hunt on my own property out of season if i have enough land to do so (3 acres doesnt cut it) and ifi request farm tags which i cannot get because I dont have several hundred acres. I know the laws very well. I am a responcible hunter after all.

Well, I can only speak for Colorado but you'd be looking at possible prison time if you shot anything out of season where I live. In hunter ed we were told that if you killed a bear because you felt you were in danger, there would be an inquisition and you had better be able to prove your point or risk jail time.

Department of Wildlife is the end all be all of game.

Period.

We just had a HUGE to-do about an out of season kill happen in our little town and people are UP IN ARMS. Pictures posted on all the feed stores and e-mails being circulated...big deal here.

There is a time when common sense has to come into play. Someone somewhere got ridiculous and couldn't control themselves and now there is the law on the books.

There should be a local gamewarden for you to contact and not have to wait for 'office hours'.

We grew up knowing who the game warden officers were and where they lived. It was their job to do what we couldn't do and they didn't take the responsibility lightly.

Up here in Va I am out of my comfort zone and don't understand some of their legal issues either.

Again, I have to ask, when does common sense come into play?

You cannot shoot any game animal on your property if it is out of season in Texas.

Because of the size of our state and the number of game wardens, the sherriff's office is authorized to put a wild animal down in their behalf.

You migth try your local sherriff's office to see if it is possible where you live.

I think this debate has run its course.

We all agree we hope the animal does not suffer however it dies.
