What are your temps there? Is it at all possible it could be related to the heat? I found one of mine fairly stuporous yesterday - all related to the heat.

She has been looking a bit more lively, less eye closing and a bit of pecking around.

Thanks for the reply Steve, but I am not yet sure what is wrong with her (if there is something else as well as mites) so I dont know what to give in terms of medication, I only know that she should have some vitamins.

Mites make a chicken really weak, so I think that is probably the only thing wrong with her, but i do not know for sure.

Lets hope this is the case, so she will get better! We are also deworming them as we haven't done that in a while. Thank you for all your replies!

the store offers few medications to choose from but I only use two medications and they are from my medicine cabinet - off the counter tylenol and left over antibiotic.

She has stood up and taken her first tentative steps today!
I will keep people posted on her (hopeful) recovery!

As @littlefarmgirl9 suggested, if the mites are on her eyes, you can use a little vaseline or coconut oil to smother them, just be careful not to get in the eyes. I know vaseline/oils will help with sticktight fleas that are attached to the eye, and IMO mites/lice are slightly easier to kill.

I'm glad she seems to be improving. Push fluids if you can, she may be a bit dehydrated and will continue to perk up for you.

Keep us posted.
