Porcelain and Lavender in Same Breeding Pen?

If you cross the lav with the Porcelain, you will get all lavender F1s , if you cross those F1s back to the porcelains, you will get lavender, mottled lavender, porcelain, and buff columbian isabel ( like procelain with without mottling)

Rareroo, that is great information and I like the idea. So, it's not terrible to keep the two colors together then. Would sure make my decision easier. I'm going to write that down so I don't forget or have to always look up this thread. (btw, I love your Barred Rocks and the little banty blue rock rooster you posted a pic of awhile back).

So, what I'm thinking is that if it's possible, I'd like to keep two roosters with a good number of hens, maybe one rooster of each color, lav and porcelain, with lav and porcelain hens, in whatever breed I get these colors in. Of course, after alot more thought and input from our knowledable genetics folks like yourself, I may go a completely other direction, LOL.

I think you've got me confused, My Barred Rocks are about the same as most others and I don't have a Blue Rock Bantam rooster.

I think it would be a cool idea to keep the two colors and cross those F1s back to the Porcelains like I said, that way you would get lots of colors if maybe you just kept two of the F1 roos and porcelain hens. And I also think you should get dAnvers from Aubrey, he's a good ole Georgian like you and I. LOL

Are they big fliers?

Mine are HUGE flyers and fly over 7 feet high if they are spooked. Nothing can keep them in (besides netting that is) IF they decided to fly LOL Most of the time they stayed put tho. They are very skittish for sure.

Cyn, I am glad to see you condiering a bantam breed. d'Uccles are with out a doubt the most friendly and people oriented birds I have ever owned. They do tend to go where they want to go and they escape all my fences. The entertainment value alone is so worth it. I am working of covering a pen for them even though I will miss the little surprise Mottled surprise sitting in the Buff Silkie nest. I have no idea why she prefers to lay in that nest and she has to fly over a fence or two to get there. I could go on all day about the personality. Excellent choice for you since I know how much you and Tom interact with your flock.

If you find you need a Mottled d'Uccle please let me know. Robin has two I raised, one is blue mottled. Not sure if that would work in your plans. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Serves me right for skimming too fast.

Thanks, Jaynie! I appreciate that. Generally, I don't care for the black and white mottled, but I do like blue mottled alot. You know me and the blues!
