Porcelain Silkie Thread

As you know, there is an issue with the label "Porcelain". Terry Britt judged the Silkies at the Canadian Nationals today. He was SUPER nice, judged my birds quite fairly, I think, and provided me with loads of feedback. He could see that my pair was originally entered as Porcelain then changed to Blue Cream on the advice of other Silkie folks working with the colour. After judging, I asked Terry if he had an opinion on what we should be calling them. He said "Opal" which I LOVE! So I'm submitting results to the ASBC with that label. (He also said he really likes my pullet who received a BV which had me over the moon! My "Opal" cockerel is VERY colourful and was a HUGE hit with the crowd. Terry tolerated him which I appreciate and he still received RV -- out of 2.)

Needless to say ... I had a GREAT day - my first time showing chickens.

Best showing ever of Silkies in Canada. I'm still trying to catch my breath. (A bearded Splash pullet (not mine, mine came 2nd) took BB out of 40 entries - most of them white. Catdance Silkies (Karen Larson) gets the credit for that win. All we Canadians did was hatch the egg.)

I remember hearing that name now and I also really like it! Seems perfect!! So glad you had such a great time! :)

I would love to know the correct term to call this color. I've been showing my girl as Porcelain, but have also been told it's incorrect by several silkie breeders. I like the "Opal" suggestion. When the name is made official, where would one find it?

My breeding program,
I had bred a partridge with a lavender to get 'porcelain' shown below (my girl, Rainbow).

Then I bred her to a black with gold heckles and got these little ones;

I'm still playing around with the color and trying to figure it out. When I bred buff with lavender I got this color shown below (my girl, Pumpkin);

Lot's of back and fourth on this "porcelain" issue. The first or one of the first breeders to work on the "porcelain" color call it "self-blue cream". Though not necessarily an exciting name, the judges seem to like it.

Hopefully ill have some porcelain (isabel/opal/self-blue-cream) chicks hatch in a month :) should I breed porcelain to porcelain? Add a lavender? Buff? a blue partridge? How do I get the best coloring?

Got this girl from an accidental breeding between a blue showgirl and white silkie. Could I put her in a porcelain pen? Want to keep her but no where to put her.
