Porcelain Silkie Thread

Pics
From reading, I'm gathering that the "porcelain" colour hasn't been very well defined yet and that it's different in Europe that what we seem to be going for here. Furthermore, the name "porcelain" likely won't stick because of issues with APA/ABA. Seems porcelain sometimes starts out of partridge, often buff, and then add and re-add lavender (self-blue) into the mix. Basically, folks seem to be injecting "colours" (i.e. genes) to tweak the colour/pattern they wish to obtain.
Thanks for the info. I remember hearing that there were other color name options. I wonder what we'll end up with?

Interesting on getting porcelain out of some partridge. I just hatched chicks from my partridge flock, but the breeders I have are some interesting colors and the chicks are turning out to be quite interesting themselves. I am not saying I have porcelain or anything, but I am keeping a close watch on a few of them. I have a buff girl, but she is not a true buff and looks like she has some blue to her cushion. The chicks she is throwing are the ones I am keeping a close watch on.
I don't know what line of silkies they are as the person I bought from had recently acquired someone's entire flock of show silkies, but they knew nothing about what they had. I was only able to buy all the chicks this person had in the brooder at the time.

nice chicks that second picture looks so sweet.
Thanks! 7 weeks old now and I'm pretty sure it's girl.

Looks like a girl to me too! I have one porcelain turned out to be a roo he crowed at 8 weeks and his comb is starting to grow I hatched him the end of January.14 weeks old now he is mostly ok with the other chicks except the little blue pullet, pecks at her every time she gets to close to him.

The chick on the left in the first picture is definitely a boy. Comb growth and a reddish cast to the comb. He may crow at 8 weeks too!
