I'm totally new at this. I have 3 RIR-RIW mix roosters and 1 hen. I bought 4 chicks around 5 months ago not knowing there gender and it turned out to be 3 boys and a girl. My Hen has been laying eggs since March 10th and hasnt missed a day. I've decided to build my own incubator and hatch my own chicks. 15 eggs have been in the incubator for 4 days and today I though I would candle one. I noticed the egg was porous (not as porous as the example from "Candling Pics" forum on this site ). Will this egg still be good for hatching or should I get rid of it? I actually think most of her eggs look like this. What causes this? How to fix it? I have been checking her eggs for a month now to see if they are fertilized and almost everyone looks to be, there is a white dot with a ring around it. This means fertilized right?
My Homemade incubator seems to work fine. The temp stays between 37.4c - 37.9c. I have 2 small computer fans running inside the incubator and a tray with water. I also have a Digital Hygrometer/Thermometer and a Mercury Thermometer. Im using a digital Thermostat with a 60w bulb for temperature control. If there is anything I should change please let me know.
I just left 10 posts so I can upload pics now
