possible animal neglect

It wouldn't hurt for them to come out and look. If you feel they were sick and skinny, please call! She might have just gotten out of control or just loves animals too much. If you have them , you need to take care of them. And having more when the others aren't taken care of properly is abuse~

Actually the humane thing to do is to trap and spay and neuter , then release. We have free programs here to spay and neuter feral colonies. It helps keep the population from growing.
Not feeding won't get rid of them, it will just cause them to go after your pets possibly.

I'm glad you reported it, it does sound like animal hoarding. If the animals were all friendly, that's a good indicator that she is at least trying to keep them socialized, most hoarders don't and it's hard to find homes for "wild" animals. It sounds to me that she just doesn't have the money to afford proper vet care and efficient housing.

when i got the chicks home. i bought 8 of them. 4 of them had pasty butt. which i took care of right away. thank goodness i had done some reading on this forum and knew what it was.

consider them a rescue!

Good for you for reporting the situation! A year ago, I ran into a similar situation, however, I was not buying any animals. I will warn you to be ready for the possible fall-out that may come your way. The person I filed a report on discovered that it was me that done so, and we are still feeling the repercussions of my complaint.

I honestly believe that if you see a situation where animals are being neglected, and are only being "used" as a source of profit or income, you have a duty to report what you see. So many people just turn a blind eye to it, yet these animals NEED someone to speak up for them.

I know that I would not hesitate to report anyone I feel is being neglectful. My animals are all extremely clean, well fed, well watered and some people even say spoiled. My animals rely on me to properly care for them, if I am unable then I should not be allowed to have them. There are too many puppy millers out there and the worst thing people can do is to just keep buying the animals even if they try and justify in their minds that they are rescuing them. When you rescue/buy from these people, it just means that they are going to continue with their practices. I know it's horrible to say, but when no one buys anything from them, they will either drop everyone off at the shelters or they will turn them loose but at least they will stop. Supply and demand.

animal control said they will stop by tomorrow morning and then call me later with the report. she will probably figure out it was me that reported her since i was there just a few days ago. but i will have to stand by my decision regardless of the blowback.
