You could probably stick a piece of wood thru the corner of crate to support bottom of waterer.

That's a good idea! I never even thought of that. Thanks!

I personally would recommend that bowl of feed be outside the cage so she can stick her head out through the bars to eat. The minute you put her in there she's going to be mad and will most likely start pacing and will knock the bowl over.

Wouldn't the other chickens knock the bowl over too though or try to eat her food? I thought about using a cage cup too

I don't think those bars are far enough apart for them to get their head thru.
Might be good to not put the food dish in until she's been in there awhile tho....lol.

Finally put her in. Went with @aart wood underneath the waterer idea and decided to go with a chicken cage cup instead of the bowl.

At first she didn't freak out and I was like "oh wow! She actually seems to be glad to be relieved of her duties!" Cause she immediately ate and drank a lot. But then after she finished her meal she started pacing around the cage :(

But I let them free range some and she actually was off the nest a lot, went back on twice, but at one point she sat on a perch in the run for a while and didn't get back on the nest right away.

But I put her in the cage anyway.

Not exactly perfectly level but I fixed it some before I put her in it

Penny is breaking my heart :(

Her friends have all gone to bed now and she can see them on the roof (I think she'd be worse if she couldn't see them) and she is trying sooo hard to get out :(

I don't suppose I can let her out?

It's also supposed to be like 40 tonight and she's skinny from being on the nest so long... will she freeze?

Should I at least give her a roost?

Yes I am trying to find an excuse to let her out "just for tonight"....

She's just breaking my heart.... I feel like a terrible chicken mama :( :hit

I know as soon as she gets out though she will be right back on the nest...

Can I at least give her a roost?

Set up extra security though.
