Possible Craigslist scam!!!

I doubt someone really hacked your account -- if you log into your CL account you can see the ads you've ACTUALLY posted - you'll probably see that you've only actually posted what you meant to post.

I get them all the time - about cars I didn't sell, or posts that were "flagged" ... ... they don't actually exist.

These emails are similar to the scams that you get from ebay and paypal... they're hoping you respond with information or click on a link that has a virus or a scam that tells you to fill out X information to "protect" your account ... but what you're really doing is sending your information to another party ... Be very careful! ... good scammers have emails that seem legit, and webpages that look very similar to the webpage their trying to impersonate.

best thing to do in this computerized world is to always monitor your accounts (bank,cc, credit reports etc.) ... just pay attention any unknown charges... I suggest not waiting for your monthly statement, but to check weekly your accounts online, or even balances over the phone....

It's a world that we need to stay on top of out there.!

I had posted some turkeys on cl this week (yesterday), got an email asking if they were still available, I answered yes. Next they send an email with a link and 'would you be intersted in trading for this' at the link it asked me to log into my cl account (the link was like 'all things for trade craigslist or something like that), I of course did not. Went back and replied to the email with could not open the link and what was it, never heard back from them. I am sure it was someone trying to get me to type in my info so they could 'steal' it.

Just a word of caution, never clink on a link unless it came from someone you know. Always type the link out or copy & paste it in the web browser.

I just got another Craigslist e-mail asking for my account information. My Nortons blocked it as unsafe.

This is happening to a LOT of people I know. One thing people are not aware of is that you do not need to register an account with CL to buy or sell. If you made a CL account for yourself, that is how this happened. You need to delete the account or change the password. The same thing happened to my daughter, she was selling a car and renting an apartment! I said I hope your getting the money! LOL Then one day my mom, who lives alone pulled into her driveway to find a guy looking inn her windows on her farmers porch. She (foolishy) pulled her car in to block his vehicle and beeped for him to come to her car and cracked her window asking what he was doing. He tols her he saw the ad on CL about renting the house for 800 a month (mind you it is a million dollar home) and wanted to rent it. She said it was not for rent at all and thru talking more figured it was a CL scam but she managed to get his info and had him checked out by the local cops anyway! In so many ways the internet is a good thing, but just as many ways is it bad or evil.

What you said is true, a person does not need an account to post on Craigslist. I have changed my password. Maybe someone is trying to get into my account with my new password, so they sent the email. When I went to open it I was asked for my Login ID and password. I did not give it.

Ya, I never give my password or other info on the internet unless it is a site I logged onto. It is scary, but if someone wants my identity, good luck to them, they will get all my bad credit and bills to go with it too!

I posted on craigslist to sell to items in Dec and ended up with a computer virus. I am pretty sure it came in while I was trying to edit / remove my ad from where I had sold my items - - -
