Beautiful birds. The other two on top look like RIR. which I have one of, and a Red sex link which looks very similar. Sex link lays JUMBO eggs while my RIR lays XL. I would like to have one Blue Wyandotte. I only keep chickens as pets.

Me too! I got the Blues from a friend who got them for Dels/TSC who get their chicks from Privett Hatchery. She got them as chicks last April by "accident" thought they were BLRW. The unfortunate part is they all ended up pullets, she "gave" them (Oct) to me while she searches for a Cockerel/Cock. So far the obstacle is our quarantine/import laws

hasn't found anyone able to work the system and affordable.

The plan was I'd keep them until April then she'd pick 2 or 3 to breed, I'd keep the remainder. At this point she's thinking she may just breed them to her BLRW Cock unless she can possibly get a male chick or two. Waiting to see what the feed store brings in for chicks this coming March - April. Love their personalities and they are so "poofy"

ogiegreengal65 How is your girl doing?

She is doing real good. I used vet tape to tape her foot to a piece of thin cardboard shaped like a foot and made her a sling to set n. She enjoys setting at the front window watching the other girls n the yard. She is trying to stand a little. Been feeding scratch, meal worms, scrambled eggs and rooster booster vitamins & electrolytes with lacto bacillus. It has riboflavin in it but just noticed the main 2 ingredients are two types of salts and the next (3rd) ingredient is potassium. Isn't that also a form of salt? Where can I get the riboflavin u have used?

The Rooster Booster Vitamin & Electrolytes w/ Lacto Bacillus should be fine. Potassium is a mineral - Rooster Booster has Potassium Chloride which may help with dehydration (hence the Electrolytes). If I'm not mistaken you give it for 3-5days, then as needed (electrolytes are not for "long-term" use). If you are wanting to give just poultry vitamins, then give something like Poultry Nutri-Drench, Rooster Booster Poultry Cell or if you are aiming for just B Vitamins, you can crush a human B-Complex vitamin up and add it to her feed.

I see you're feeding scratch, meal worms, egg and the Rooster Booster. But I don't see anywhere mentioned poultry feed.

Try feeding her normal feed with some egg and/or meal worms. Give just a small amount of scratch as a treat (about 1tsp). Staying hydrated is important.

I hope her wounds and her leg injury heals quickly for you.

Children's PolyVisol without iron was mentioned (3 drops daily) also read about crushing up the vitamin tabs but I thought the PolyVisol easier. Small bottle will last a long time. I had a hard time finding due to it being kept in either the pharmacy section, baby section or vitamin section of a store plus the packaging has been changed since I used for my kids 30+ yrs ago. It may also go under the name of Enfamil Poly - Vi - Sol, liquid multivitamin supplement, just make sure NO IRON.

It seems alot of people feed scratch as the primary food which I thought at one time was FOOD. Have since learned form BYC that it's not, as Wyorp Rock recommends poultry feed and there are many reasonably priced ones out there.

Flock Raiser seems to be a popular one on BYC, it's for the whole flock. Not having to have several different bags of feed. Having hens you just keep a side dish of Oyster Shells out for the layers and they eat as they need. Chicks from hatch to about 4wks I feed medicated chick starter so I purchase a small bag, then they eat what the others eat. Sure saves on space & cost.

Still not sure if a dog or a hawk. Why no iron? I only give scratch as a treat n the afternoon or before bed. Always have layer pellets available as their food source, also oyster shell and grit available when they want it. They free range all over my 6 acres. During the cooler weather I give even more berries, melons and greens.

Most poultry feeds have iron already added, so generally it's recommended not to give additional iron when giving supplement/vitamins.

Berries, melons and greens are wonderful to give. Mine love them

Oops, gave her scratch to get her to eat something. Went to store and bought meal worms. Tonight she had cut up tomatoes. She loves them.
