possible egg binding

Wonderful! I love happy endings!!! That is Quite an Egg. My runner didn't lay for a couple of months after she was egg bound, but has now returned to fairly regular production. Thanks for letting us know how she fared.
Question for you. Since the egg binding incident, I have gotten 3 eggs per day. The past two days I have confirmed that it is the hen that was egg bound that isn’t laying. Well, earlier today, while setting a love trap, I found a shelless egg in my yard. Just a bit ago, the former egg bound hen (lol) was sitting on the three eggs that my other three pullets laid. She was there for a couple of hours. Finally, I noticed her ranging with the other so I went to collect eggs. 3 in the nest box and another shelless one right outside of the nest box. I’m giving them layer feed and I have oyster shells in the coop that they have free range with. Now I am confused again...

If they are young, shell less eggs just happens sometimes as they get in the groove of laying.
Yes, they are young; 22 weeks or so. She was the first one of the flock to lay, and besides my leghorn, was the most consistent. Now she’s not laying, and if she does, softshells. Maybe the egg bind threw her system off lol. I’m just curious.

That would be my guess. Poor girl probably needs some time to recover from that.

I never get too upset when a new layer lays a soft shell egg. But since she had trouble laying the big egg, I would just watch her and pay attention to who is laying. Hopefully, she will get herself regulated. You also may see a slight blood smear on eggs of new layers, and nothing to be concerned about.
