you cant appreciate the fine quality of chocolate by throwing other flavors in there. my opinion, and you know what they say, opinions are like,..... everyone has one. of course i always thought they were talking about my husband but....

Actually I give a Christmas box of goodies to all of my monthly renters. All homemade. My way of thanking them for staying with me through out the year. Then of course local friends and family. Also this will be the 25th year that I have not charged for a room at my motel on Christmas Eve. Something I don't advertise. Usually get at leat one woman who bursts into tears when I tell her there is no charge. One lady got quit upset that I would not accept any money so She came back in on Christmas day and gave me a card and a $20.00 bill in it she then Proclaims that I have to take that money as it was a gift.

I tend to agree but on the other hand something different once in a while can be nice and if not makes you appreciate the orginal even more.

never heard of using powered sugar.   so guess its the old fashioned way.    Lots and lots  and lots of stirring.   My right arm should be 3x as big as the left but not so far.   Still have to make bjorter kockels and pizzaels (spelling?) and Norwegian white cookies.  plus oatmeal  CRAsian.   Have to et care/Christmas packages of to siblings  with wives unable to bake/cook.  And a sister with to little ones underfoot.   My 5  year old niece says " that Uncle Scott is sure a good cooker"   also calls  my chokecherry jelly and syrup  "choke sauce"   she is a pistol.    Also about 20 to 25 lbs of Swedish meatballs.   Secret is everything I make freezes really well so I only have to do  the Meatballs  every couple years.   The gravy includes  some very strong coffee.     

MMmmmmmm. What are bjorter kockels? Pizzelles are yummy, but so labor-intensive from what I understand. Do you do springerles? I wanted to do the Christmas baking thing years ago, even bought the anise and whatnot for springerles, but the most I ever managed was toll house cookies.

And you do all this with frozen pipes?

ohhh, that is soo sweet !! how come i never lived by people as generous as you? the best thing that was ever giving to me, and i think the only , is right here on byc. a woman was giving her tolbunt frizzle roo away local pickup and i told her how lucky someone was going to be and she mailed him to me ! she even payed shipping. i cried when she did that. ihe was all the way from california. you go girl!

bjoter kockel are dutch buter. you mix the dough and then roll it into wax paper and try to make a long round tube. Slice thin and bake until edges just start to brown. Mine are never totally round. Pipes just froze last night. Silly me I forgot to leave the water run last night. UFFDA!!! incase you were wondering Uffda is norske sort of a cross between a forehead smack and a curse. Have never heard of spanglers sound interesting thou.

Norweigan white cookies You use powered sugar instead of regular sugar then roll into balls then rool in sugar and place on cookie sheet then press a little flat with a glass with a pretty desing I=on the bottom sprinkle with colored sugar and bake. These are to delicate to ship so unless the family come here they get none.
