Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

I tried to candle the quail eggs this morning, and I cracked one! 

I was so excited, too. It was turning very dark, so there was definitely a chick in there. I feel horrible. I've never cracked an egg before, let alone my special little ones. My sleeve got caught on the edge of the turner's motor, and when I pulled away, the egg tapped the side of the incubator. It certainly didn't take much to crack the poor little thing. Now I'm down to 13, which is a number I don't like.

Thanks, guys. I feel a lot better now than I did before. My oldest hen was hiding a clutch of eggs when I came home. She's never gone broody before, and now the silly girl wants to have her first brood in the middle of winter!

Lol, quail eggs are incrediably hard unless youre trying not to crack them. I had a handful and squeezed slightly as I stood up..dogs Lucky day..
My eggs go into lockdown on friday! Who knows what I'll get, I found quail impossible to candle, but they feel heavy.

I saw a photo of frostbitten combs healing on a chicken page on facebook the other day too..looked raw but healthy
