thats awesome. you will have your hands full. hahahha sounds like your mom might of found that chicken math too. speaking of.... are you going to figure my hatch rate when they are done???

And yes, I'm back in school. We have a substitute this period, so I think I can get away with talking a bit more than usual...

i put 37, on day 7 i candled and 6 were not fertile and 1 had a blood ring. do you count them?? so far 23 have hatched but i am expecting more. 4 have died. mostly at my own hands except for one born with a crazy birth defect.

Unless you cracked them open to see if they were fertile, you don't count the eggs that never developed when you calculate hatch rate. You do count the blood ring, though, because that means an embryo was developing but died. To get your hatch rate you divide the number of total hatched chicks by the number of fertile eggs you set (which is why those didn't count). You count the eggs that died as fertile, as well. So far, 23/30= 76.6%. You could round that off to 77%. Not bad! I'm sure it'll get higher once those babies get moving.

thats not bad. thank you. i will never remember how to do that though. hahahha i could of had almost 100 if i had left them alone. one had piped at the wrong end and after i opened it it turned to the right end and died, one i was sure was dead and it wasnt. one had its brain growing on the outside.
