Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

I just walked over to them and 4 jumped up on the top shelf. I believe 3 of those are boys.....
Also keep in mind that they are more like guineas than chickens. They don't do the grab the female and ...make babies.. like roosters. Like guineas they wait til she says okay. And it's rare to see them do anything at all. They're very private about it.

Hahaha, how polite of them!
Thanks for everything, starkasm. These little cuties so sweet so far. I can't wait to get some cute little eggs out of them.

Mind helping me out a bit more? I have an old A-frame rabbit run that would be a decent size for them, but I read that they can't live on the ground. Is that true? I was thinking about keeping them near a tree line, where it's dry and sandy. Think that'll be okay?

my flowers arent blooming yet. pretty excited to get started on it though. i cant leave mom alone so when they start blooming, it shouldnt be long, i will send the boys on a flower hunt.

My cat ate mine right out the jar! I was only three days in, too. Guess she likes lemon balm.

I'm out of oil now, so I have to wait to try again. I think I'll do wisteria while it's still blooming.

I've read that about quail, that they do better on a wire bottom cage. As far as chukars, mine don't have a wire bottom and play out in the grass in a pen when it's warm enough.. I've read about people letting them free range but they slowly disappear :( My guess would be predators
In the wild they are in the mountains running around in sparse grass etc. So What you have planned sounds perfect.
They're actually very hardy little fatties!

I don't know if you've bought them dried meal worms yet... but mine love them. They go nuts when you give them to em! When they were babies I used to grind them up with the food and then as they got bigger I fed whole ones to them too.

Did you know they have 14 tail feathers...no more, no less? Fun fact :)

starkasm, i have heard about the quail being so delicate and there is something in the poop that if they eat or pick at it can kill them.

From what I've read there's something in chickens that can kill quail and you shouldn't have them together. As far as being fragile. They aren't. My daughter plays with them and even has a pet "poppy" (we named him popcorn cause he was the only white in the first hatch) she him carries around half the day. He flies around and yells at her when she leaves him. He's anything but fragile or delicate.
