Adorable and looking great! They get past the flighty stage. They go through the curious cute then the, "omg she's gonna eat us" then back to curious. I ended up putting deer netting over the brooder. Once I found one all the way in the kitchen near the dog water and could only imagine the horror if I had stepped on it. The other time I walked in to see my 120lb Malamute looking down at one with a look on her face like look what I found! It was just looking up at her peeping...maybe it thought she was Mama!?
Mine are extremely tame now. Of course my daughter held them a lot. The meal worms will help too. They'll come running for them. She hand feeds them the mealworms. When you walk over to the cage they all jump to the top shelf to see if you have a treat.
Thanks, starkasm. I was afraid they'd be nervous and hate me forever, lol. I gave them a stick a few days ago, to see if they'd want to investigate. They didn't. I had to look for escapees then, too.
Just got done planting some new herbs, moving some strawberry plants, and making a new batch of perfume. I moved the bigger chicks outside to the big kid brooder (it's just a big dog crate), and now I have to dig a level trench to put my A-frame in for the chukars. I'm gonna need a shower badly tonight, lol.
Any idea what's safe to use for weatherproofing when you have animals around? I've never had to do it, since the coop was pre-built on our property, and is covered in sliding.
It's a pretty decent size. I'd say it's about 6-7 ft. tall, and 5-6 ft. long. I'm not sure how wide it is, probably just 3 or 4 ft. I'm trying to spray the whole thing down so it doesn't get warped in the rain. It's already looking bendy on one side, so I have to replace that wall.
I love seeing the baby pics, they are adorable Cheyen! I got to see chukar chicks in person today and they were like little long necked road runners. I had to take a video of one who was doing laps around the quail chicks at the speed of light lol it was hilarious!
I went for a dozen tuxedo eggs and came home with those and 4 juvenile birds my poor husband had to hustle up and construct a new coop thank goodness tomorrow is Mother's Day so how could he refuse
