Oh! I don't think there's any problem with it. It's when you cook them it gets dangerous. The bones get brittle and can splinter in your dog's throat. When I cooked a chicken for the first time, I just tossed the head and feet to my dog. He loved it!

Dogs can carry salmonella, but they expel it through their poo with no ill effects. Just don't eat their poo and it won't spread.
