Possible Guinea Eggs in "Quail" Batch?

I don't think she'll have to amputate, unless the WHOLE comb is black. Mine get little slivers of frost bite once in a while, and they're okay after they warm up.

yes, frost bite. I dont think i could amputate. its pretty severe cheyen. black line half way down and running all the way across. then up.think i rather put them down then to try that. cant imagine the pain it would cause to cut into healty flesh and then treat them for how long? im sure its less pain the the ax but. i just dont know. its gonna have to be a wait and see thing

Granny, if the combs are at the point where they're black, go ahead and cut it. It's dead tissue, and they won't feel it. Sorry this freeze is causing so much trouble for you.

If you don't cut it off, it will either fall off on its own or go septic. Here's a website on cutting:

I realize it's a nasty business, and a lot of people don't like it (I don't approve of it other than for medical reasons), but in your case I think it's a pretty humane thing to do. Better to take care of things yourself than to leave it to chance. It would be a real shame to cull otherwise healthy birds.

I'm so glad this freeze is over! It's going to be in the low 70's this weekend.

The breeder had to delay shipping my eggs because of this weather. They should've been here Tuesday, but now I'm expecting them tomorrow. I'm excited!

my eggs not looking good to me. i have them in a turner thats new to me but i think i see a blood ring on top of every egg. i opened one last night and it had a embryo about the size of the head of a pin and not very many blood vessels. no movement
