Hello,
I recently lost one of my 3 girls about a month ago (alpha) and Ive noticed a change in my two remaining hens. They seem a bit bored and almost confused. I live in an area where i cannot simply buy more hens to replace my lost one. Plus, Ive been working a lot so they dont have much time to free range in my yard anymore.
I was wondering if they would be happier in a farm/ with other chickens? If so can anyone give them a good home for me...?
They are small chickens - (in my profile picture -the yellow one and the tall brown one behind her). The yellow one is named Darling. She is an angel and took up the alpha role now. She doesnt mind being picked up and enjoys being indoors. Peeps is the tall brown one behind her. She is kind of crazy (chases birds, lizards, and does stunt jumps randomly lol) but she is still lovable and very funny. Recently, shes been letting me pick her up but now she seems to attack my arms/legs when i go outside. I think it could be due to the fact thats shes broody and ive been trying to break it. But yes, they are both good girls and lay every now and then (rather small eggs).
Ive really been contemplating rehoming them due to this because really I just want whats best for them. My biggest fear is to lose another unexpectedly again and have one of my girls completely lonely- it would break my heart.
NOT FOR MEAT / EGG PRODUCTION.
I would love to see where they would be rehomed prior to it and possibly keep in touch if you’d allow (at least for a week or two to see how theyre doing). I appreciate any tips or rehoming offers.
