Possible Scaly Leg

I made a post about an issue with my hens leg a while back, and got no true idea/response on what exactly was wrong with her. I cleaned her leg up, and watched it closely. I was gone for a week, and came back to find it had gotten worse. I looked up similar conditions, and saw an image of scaly leg. She does have 2 or 3 scales raised at the hour of her foot, that I had assumed to be a pulled scale that grew in awkwardly. There have not been any new lifted scales, but the white patch in her leg has spread. It is only on the one leg, there is no band there to cause rubbing, and she is healthy otherwise. Is this scaly leg, or symptoms of it/leading to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Ewcepially if I need to keep her confined, away from the other birds (I’m not sure if SL is contagious or not, i mean they are mites, so I’d assume it is)

It doesn't look like scaly legs mites to me. I'm not sure what the white patch could be. I'm just guessing that it could be a fungus. Try Blu-kote on it. Gentian violet is an anti-fungal/anti-bacterial. If it makes the white patch shrink and disappear, you will then know it was a fungus.

For a quick treatment (that I have used a few times with good results) I start with soaking their legs in warm water (with some Dawn dish-soap added) for about 5 minutes. Dry their legs off and scrape the old scales off with an old toothbrush.
And then I would spray their legs with cooking oil (a pretty good amount) or smother their legs with Vaseline.
Keep an eye on the rest of the flock.

NOTE: This treatment only worked for me when my chickens only had a few scales raised.

Blu-kote or Blue Lotion is a gentian violet tincture. It comes in a paint-on bottle or a spray. I usually use a Q-tip to paint it on the chicken as it has a tendency to splash and stain in large amounts.

Thanks! Would you recommend it being used as a prevention? (On the other birds, and/or on the unaffected leg? Or is it solely to be used on affected areas?
