post any and all waterfowl pictures here!!! ponds, pools, aviarys, coops, runs, etc.

i received a mixture of eggs that were mystery eggs! when our little pie (black swedish) hatched i new straight away as im fascinated with them , i find them beautiful ducks! and hes my first! hes the first ive ever seen in real life!!
I really hate to say this but, although your boy is adorable, the swedish aren't suppose to have that large of yellow on his face, and his bib (the yellow on his neck and chest) is really large IMO. I think your swedish is actually a magpie?! Or he could be a badly mismarked swedish i guess... I would really guess he's a magpie though.

magpie ducklings have much more yellow on them! he is a swedish because we then viewed the birds over a misstaken aylesbury who we were told was a pekin! when we went to the seller about the problem we saw 3 black swedish and that was a releif as we at least knew for sure what they were , unlike what we were told! but even thogh little ally isnt a pekin i love her so much! and about pies parents , they were really beautiful , and we cant wait to see if hr turns out like them! its literally impossible to get magpie ducks in this part of ireland too! (and if you google black swedish duckling they all look like pie) http://www.google.ie/imgres?um=1&hl...w=115&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:70

If you're in ireland that would explain a lot since different countries have different standards. From what I've learned a lot of yellow is a bad thing. (too little isn't good either) but at least as far as the blue swedish go they should have a solid body, with white wing tips and breast (my swedish has these but I think her bib is a little small), but typically the white in the face is something that is bred away from here, breeders who have this don't seem to like it. My swedish had a little bit of yellow (white now) on her eye almost like eyeliner (LOL) that several breeders told me they hoped my duck would grow out of it.

however, I HAVE seen swedish like your baby-as adults with some white feathers on their faces. I think it depends on the area you live in, and what version of the breed you're aiming for. I have even read about an extremist who says there "is no such thing as a black swedish" she believes its just a badly bred "Blue". I think that's crazy-the duck is obviously black! but markings are a touchy subject anyway. Do you have a picture of his pretty parents? I'm interested in seeing them!

Also, I'd like to see how pie grows up to look! he's very cute. (are you sure he's a he? or is it a hopeful thing?)

pie was a lil hard 2 vent sex , so with only him its a hopeful thing! and sorry no pics of his pretty parents! we went there a little angry to be honest , after being tld we had pekin eggs (really aylesbury) but his father id have a really tiny white spot above his eye! (left i think?) nd there was two females , so not sure wich was mammy! but i will post pics as he grows!

So how many females did you end up with? Right now I have two males, and one female. oops! so, I'm attempting to sell my boys to make room for my hatching eggs (Ancona-all colors so they'll be a surprise) I bought my swedish from just my local country feed store. There were two babies there, and at the time I wasn't suppose to get another duck but I couldn't resist! Blue ended up being a girl so it worked out really well for me. If I can sell my two extras, than maybe I'll find another swedish (maybe black!) to hang out with my blue.

ETA: I can relate to your being angry about having misinformation. I had a guy whom I was going to buy two Silver Appleyards from that turned out to be a horrible breeder, and his ducks ended up looked almost mangy and inbred. yuck!

ugh! mangy inbred ducks! jus what buyers are looking for! haha and we dnt mind! ally the now known aylesbury is perfect in every way! bella our mallard jumped on the egg in the incubator and thatshow she came 2 be hAHA and try to get va black swedish! there temperant is gr8! very curious , and u cant tell from pics juyst how beautiful the chicks are

So what's the difference between the Aylesbury, and Pekin when they're fully grown? I can see it when they're little, but what's their defining differences?(i guess thats what i'm asking. I love pekin's. they're so simple but cute!)
