post any and all waterfowl pictures here!!! ponds, pools, aviarys, coops, runs, etc.

Yeah, she was the only one to hatch and she been brooded in our living room. I swear she thinks she's one of my kids. Even when she's outside with the kids she's always underfoot to someone.
that could be it then. Blue Belle hangs out with chickens pretty often now so I'm hoping she doesn't start acting like one! Your girl sounds like mine. When my family is outside working on the garden she'll come play in the resulting puddles, but when we think she's somewhere else doing something we turn around to look and end up just about tripping over her.

She still prefers not to be touched, but she cries and cries if she can't see us either.

BTW Do you have a dog crate or something? I had to move my ducks out to a different pen so my Mom had space for her hatching chicks, and we just set up our old dog cage in the work shop...that way they had more time to adjust to other birds, but didn't have to go out with them completely yet

Yeah we have an extra large dog crate, one of the plastic ones. We had her out in the coop a few days before in the crate but the temps dropped and she wasn't feathered yet so she came back inside. But now the weather is fine so she shouldnt have an issues besides freaking that she's not in the house lol. But yeah I put the crate in the coop so she can be inside it but not have to worry about the others hurting her.

This pic was from the last time we tried to put her out there. Poor thing lol

it's kind of nice that it's more closed it; maybe that'll help keep her warmer? The one I'm using right now for my swedish is just like a wire crate sort of thing...open, not really closed in at all. but this way she's warmer than being in the duck pen without feathers...and she's not smelling up my house either! Hopefully your other ducks will accept her soon.

I had a duckling last year that was the only one to hatch and he thought he was a puppy, actually still does and he is a big drake now living with the rest of the flock but comes in the house through the doggy door and begs for snacks just like the dogs do... pulls on my pants leg or skin if i have on shorts to get fed out of my hand when snack time for everyone else eating off the ground.

I started him off at like 2 days old going outside with him getting him around all the other members of the flock..

That sounds like my swedish; all my other ducks were afraid of the dogs, but Blue Belle just ignores them til they get too close at which time she nips their nose.

Adults, and I want to breed next spring (now if I could). I'll have lots of questions because I'm insecure like that... and curious, I hope you all won't mind. I am really excited.
