Hello everyone,
I have a Wyandotte that I have recently helped clear a horribly impacted crop of a grass blockage. It took 3 days of oil by crop needle followed with 15 minutes of massage to break it down. I was very late to notice and feel horrible because I didn’t think she was going to survive.
Since clearing her crop she has absolutely turned a corner. Going from to weak to stand up - now walking up and down in my quarantine pen, eating and drinking.
I’d just like some advice for her recovery. I’m not sure if there is a better feed for a hen that has been through what was essentially starvation for recovery. She is very happy eating the regular grain mix I feed my flock but I’m not sure if that’s best for her? If anyone had any other advice to boost her recovery I’d greatly appreciate it!
Her poop has also returned now that the blockage is gone but I cleared the crop about 2 days ago and it still seems very full of grass + wet? Not sure if it might just be green from a secondary infection that developed from her being so weak? Does this poo look sinister to anyone?
