Vets do that with dogs and cats after operating on hernias.

Ugh I know! I wonder what else I can do. All other posts I've read don't seem to mention any subcutaneous fluid build up and what to do in these situations.

Did you suture the crop separately? Crops need their own sutures, then the skin needs them too.

I'm no expert, but I'm trying to imagine subcutaneous fluid - is it just around the crop or does it seem to be building up more fluid throughout the breast?

I did not! On the other forums I read, people were not stitching the crop. They were only suturing the skin. Oh dear! Have I made a huge mistake?!

It seems to be building up around the breast area. I only sutured the skin.

I've never performed crop surgery, so....
@Eggcessive may also be able to give some tips.
She and Kathy can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking you will need to cut your stitches, flush/clean all that back out. It sounds like the crop is leaking subcutaneously.

Can you get antibiotics?

I just had a thought regarding a surgery my moms chihuahua recently had for a severe injury. The vets left large tubes in the dogs head to help with drainage. Perhaps I'll need to drain the area as one does with ascites? I just checked TSC and they carry 20 gauge needles. I wonder if it makes sense to drain the area...
