Post if you have chicks right now and/or waiting for some.

I got an order from ideal last week. we are just starting out and only got six ladies, no roos allowed in town. They are all healthy and full of s**t and vinegar. I can't believe how much fun they are to watch.
we have
1 ideal 236 (most full of herself already in charge)
1 golden sexlink
1 production red (second in command)
1 barred rock
1 sil. wyandotte
1 ameraucana

Ok were back home and with 19 babies instead of the 11 I ordered so some warmer chicks which are light brahma chicks really purty. But probably all male, but would be nice if i got an accidental girl. lol. all are happy eating drinking and running around but a little while ago when I brought them in, one of the little lorpe girls had a crook in her neck, I thought it was broken!! She was doing back bends and flipping over, I was scared for her, but she seems to have worked it out and is fine now, thank goodness!

Mojo Chick'n :

seeing the posts on shipped babies is making me bummed....

My duckies shipped yesterday, they will probably be here tomorrow (and it's cold, don't want them to die) yet most folks I read on Ideal orders got them overnight. I called the post office, and the guy said he doesn't think they have an express shipment coming in today (so that means tomorrow).

I do live in the butt-end of beyond, though, so that is probably why it is taking a day longer.

I've never done the mail order thing - how do you folks all wait patiently for them to get here????? I'm not good at waiting.

Man!! I got two more mail orders coming this spring after the duckies - chicks and goslings. I better get my blood pressure checked, methinks

by summer time you'll be watching them thinking... "hmmm it'd be nice to have one of those (insert a new breed you just found online) breeds of chickens, or maybe a duck or two... and maybe an incubator to hatch our own chicks...."

<-------My Ideal Order--------->
5 Red Silkie Bantam
15 Assorted Silkie Bantam
5 Self Blue Silkie Bantam
20 Hatchery Choice Duck
1 pair of Brown Chinese Geese
10 Assorted Feather Leg Bantam.

The ducks should be arriving tomorow (I kinda wish I had only got 10, but 20 was cheaper)

My first time with any other chickens but my silkies so I am really excited!!

I just heard a rooster the other day... and mines not crowing (guess he thinks it's too cold) so I don't have to be that worried about roo's anmore yeah!!

I have on order from Lazy54Farm

3 BO
3 SLW
3 GLW
3 Wellsummers

These will be our first chickens, so going to see what we like, and then maybe keep the mixed group over time, or focus on one type.

We're just waiting for Lazy54's chickens to starts laying again.

My "chicks" are 6 weeks old now, but I guess they're still young enough to be called chicks. I got them from Ideal and I have:

1 BR
1 BA
1 GSL
2 EEs

They've been outside for a few days now, and I can't wait to let them start free ranging!

My very first chickens are coming, my Ideal order is in, and I'm waiting...not sure how I'll manage before March 25!

We ordered 13 hens, but I'm already trying to figure out if I can possible put 3 more into the mix....

We ordered:

2 Black Sexlinks
2 Brown sexlinks
2 Australorps
2 EE
2 Cuckoo Marans
1 Speckled Sussex
1 Silver Grey Dorking
1 Goldlaced Wyandotte

I'm thinking of changing the last three pullets to two of each, but I've got to see if we will have coop space. yeah, we're building it now, but it's in a particular area with a set run space, and I don't want to crowd them in. I've already altered the coop to have it on stilts to give the hens more space under the coop and get those last three in!

We'll see how many I do end up with....with more than a month in which to change my mind yet again!
