Post if you have chicks right now and/or waiting for some.

Presently have: 3 RIR hens, 1 year old, producing 2-3 eggs per day, plus one ENORMOUS Rooster who is large and in charge.

I'm waiting on Ideal chicks through my feed store, 50 straight run, 6 bantams. To be delivered March 12, 09.

This is my first chicken rodeo, so I'm verrrry nervous. I have everything ready, have read Storey's chicken book about 12 times, but am soooo glad I found this website, with such great people ready to give me advice.

My Granny had chickens, I remember getting in trouble for hanging in the chicken house, and riding the pigs ( hard to do). But I don't think I'll ever be able to wring their necks like she did. I can see her doing that, scalding them, and singing those feathers over the open door on the wood stove. Ah, them good ole days.

Mine are supposed to arrive from IDEAL March 3rd. We setup the brooder over the weekend and are ready for our 2nd batch of biddies. My youngest son's B'day is today, so it will be easy to remember when these were hatched.

We just got four new chicks today! Two ameracaunas that we inherited from our neighbor who bought them last week for her grandson, and two buff orpingtons from the feed store. I have wanted orps since I started with chickens last year and I'm so excited! They are so cute!! Chickens are addicting

Hi all i have 25 chicks on the way, post office will be calling Friday 10 white rocks 5 cinnamon queens 5 red stars 5 production reds and 4 in the bator 1 bo 2br 1bs and 15 leghorns pullets and 6 older chickens

I just received my order this morning. Just starting with

12 female Buff Orpingtons,
6 BO roos,
12 female RIR,
1 rare that I think is a white crested black polish. Maybe a bantam. It's really small. It has a really fuzzy yellow head and belly, then black all over the place. It has a line running around the back of his head too.

Lots of fun. Everyone at the post office had to look at those noisy things in the box. Hope I can keep them alive. Everything I read has me paranoid about them. Might pick up some more at the feed store. Just in love with them.

I'm ordering from Performance Poultry. Hatch date May 15th

Adding to the 22 I already have...

15 Ameraucana pullets
5 Speckled sussex pullets
5 Barnevelder pullets
5 Partrige Chantecler pulets
2 blue silkies mixed
2 lavender guinea fowl keets mixed

Can't wait and will post pics when they arrive. I go get them but its an all day ordeal...4 hrs there and 4 hrs back.
