Hi , I wouldn't worry about making them tame. Ive found with mine, and im new too my oldest chicks are just 6 weeks old. All of mine are friendly, I have spent quite abit of time with them, however, with all the others around them, kids and cats, they will, I think be less skiddish with time, also just treating them once in a while tends to make them more friendly I found. And mine tend to follow the leader if one trust you they all generally follow suite. I have 7 dogs 1 cat 3 ferrets and 3 sons (grown) and one daughter in law all living in the same house and my chickens are not afraid of any of them. It seems like nothing ruffles there feathers so to speak. The more your around them the less skiddish they seem to be. But keep in mind some breeds are more skiddish than others for instance i have two White leghorn girls that are fine once you pick them up but until then, Its a fight and a foot race to catch them! But they do come for treats and eat out of my hand. My chicks were raised in the kitchen in a brooder , Are yours inside or outside? Another thing i did, others might do this too, is when there young i pick them up, there generally scared to death, but when they calm down I put them down and give them a treat. and it worked wonders now when i put my hand in the brooder they fight to see who gets picked up first! Good luck with your chickies!
