Post if you have chicks right now and/or waiting for some.

I order 25 from McM they will be here on the 23th of march. 10 white silkies and 10 black silkies and 5 golden campines females. [just got to have more chicken] DK

Gosh, this is a long thread.

Yesterday, I got a brown and a splash Ameraucana and a black Ameraucana roo from a local breeder.

Today, I'm off to Meyer hatchery to pick up 25 pullet and 6 rooster chicks. The brooder is heating up as I type.

I have to admit, the Ameraucanas are absolutely stunning. Not show quality (the breeder has some amazing birds, but I wasn't after the top-notch birds) but still the only "real" Ameraucanas I've ever seen. Wow, there is a huge difference between hatchery EEs and these breeder birds.

I get my 12 from Meyers one week from tomorrow!!
Ameraucana 3 Females
Delaware 1 Female, 1 Male
Cuckoo Maran 1F
Buff Orpington 1F
Golden Wyandotte 1F
Welsummer 1F, 1M
Golden Campine 2F

Eventually I'll cull to 6 hens and 1 roo.

I ordered 40 buff orpingtons, 10 araucanas (EE) and one mystery chick. My family and I are taking a road trip to MM Hatchery to pick them up on April 26. So many days to go........

Can you tell I've got "the sickness" even though I haven't any chicks yet?

Hi, this is an update on my order from Ideal, They called and are going to send my order of 5 Salmon Favs. 5 Barnies, and 5 blue cochin all pullets on april 8th instead of April 22nd. Im excited about it! And glad the chicks will come sooner so there wont be such a big age difference between them and the other chicks. But kinda wondering why they changed the date. Sandy

PS. Did anybody elses dates get moved up or back?

I got some chicks today from the feed store!

Any guesses on what breed or sex these are?

I think the second one could be a Barred Rock, but it doesn't have a white dot on its head at all...does that matter?

My wild game hen has hatched out 5 little chickies so far. She has 5 more eggs to go, might be duds, so will see in the morning.

WE are just Thrilled. Mama is teaching the little ones to scratch, eat, drink and go under MAMA/ She could not be happier as she is in the nursery and the little ones are confined so she can eat and drink without worrying about them.

Andora, those babies are gorgeous!

I just got 4 Easter Eggers today from the feed store. I'm a brand new chicken mama but I am so in love with them already! I was holding them in my hands and they were napping while I watched tv! Who needs a puppy? I've got chicks.
